CSR for Toms in Ghana

International Management Partners has been involved with Toms A/S since the very beginning in designing and implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Ghana that focuses on creating social and economic opportunities in Toms’ cocoa supply chain.

In collaboration with The Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), the project promotes a more effective farming practice by using tray fermentation instead of heap fermentation. This has resulted in some 300 farmers trained in tray fermentation with an improvement in cocoa quality and an increase in farmers’ incomes.

Together with the Danish NGO IBIS, the project involves initiatives aimed at helping children. These initiatives have included improvement of teaching education of more than 177 teachers, increasing availability of school materials as well as awareness against child labour and children’s right to education in more than 50 communities.

The project is carried out with assistance and within the guidelines of the Danida’s PPP programme and is one of the success stories of the programme.
